United States Constitution
PREAMBLE : We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure
domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty
to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution
Article IV
In the first three articles, the Constitution set up the structure of the federal government:
Article I set up the legislative branch,
Article II set up the executive branch, and
Article III set up the judicial branch. Now, with Article IV, the Constitution turns to the states. In the clauses contained within Article IV, the Constitution deals with a number of issues that govern how states are run, and how the federal government interacts with state power.
