In Skinner v Oklahoma ex rel Williamson, 316 U.S. 535 (1942), the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Oklahoma’s Criminal Sterilization Act. The justices held that compulsory sterilization of individuals convicted of certain crimes violated the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment.
